Digital leaders share experiences with social media

On Friday, November 11, the Center for Media Engagement hosted their first Social Media Summit in partnership with the UT School of Journalism. During the summit, digital news leaders and scholars shared their experiences and lessons from using social media.

The summit’s keynote panel included Jessica Huff, social media director of The McClatchy Company, Selymar Colon, managing editor and senior digital director at Univision, and Katie Harbath, Facebook’s global politics and government outreach director. The panel was moderated by The Dallas Morning News’ managing editor, Robyn Tomlin. The discussion covered how each outlet used social media and new digital tools to engage audiences during the 2016 election, as well as each outlet’s plans for how to use social media in the future.
